Police in Kent are tackling retail crime after multiple thefts at an Aldi store
Northfleet: So, there’s been some trouble at the Aldi in Kent. Police are really stepping up their game against shoplifting. Between late November and early December, staff reported four thefts of spirits and prosecco.
They checked the CCTV and managed to catch a suspect in Thames Way on January 7. This guy, Rene Suha from Gravesend, got charged with four counts of theft. Not a good day for him!
But that’s not all. Another guy was caught in Queen Street for stealing electric toothbrushes from a pharmacy. Those toothbrushes were worth a pretty penny—£140 in total! This happened on a couple of dates in late October and November.
They also tracked down this suspect on January 7. His name is Daniel Gibbons, also from Gravesend, and he’s facing charges for two thefts. Both of these guys are now in custody and will be in court soon.
Chief Inspector Will Lay mentioned that they’re committed to helping local businesses. They want to make sure that shoplifters know they’re being watched and that the police will act quickly.
It’s good to see the police taking action and trying to keep the community safe. Let’s hope this helps reduce the crime in the area!
