Kent County Council seeks public input on new double yellow lines in Maidstone to enhance road safety and traffic flow
Maidstone: So, the council is thinking about adding 60 meters of double yellow lines in Allington. They want to make the roads safer and easier to navigate.
They’ve opened up a consultation for folks to share their thoughts. It runs for 24 days and wraps up on January 13 at noon. If you’ve got an opinion, now’s the time to speak up!
The proposed lines would stretch 30 meters on either side of Castle Road, right by the railway bridge. The idea is to keep everyone safe, whether you’re driving or just walking around.
But here’s the catch: the council hasn’t made a final call yet. They’ll look at everyone’s feedback before deciding what to do next.
Just a heads up, double yellow lines mean no parking or waiting. But if you’re loading or unloading heavy stuff, you might be able to stop briefly. And if you have a Blue Badge, you can park there for up to three hours, as long as your badge is visible.
However, the AA warns that there are exceptions, so always check local signs. If you see short yellow lines on the curb, you can’t load there at all, even with a Blue Badge.
As for where these lines are going, they’ll be on both sides of the road near the railway bridge, extending 30 meters in each direction. Pretty straightforward, right?
If you want to weigh in on this proposal, you can fill out a form online. Just make sure to explain how you think it’ll affect local traffic, or your response won’t count.
And if you prefer to write, you can send your thoughts to the Senior Parking and Traffic Regulation Officer at Kent County Council. They’re eager to hear from you!
