London: A married prison officer, Linda De Sousa Abreu, got herself into serious trouble after filming a steamy encounter with an inmate. She said it made her feel like a gangster, which is quite a wild claim.

At 31, she was caught after a video of her and inmate Linton Weirich went viral. This all happened at HMP Wandsworth, where she worked. The clip was a big deal and caused quite a stir when it surfaced in the summer of 2024.

Linda, who has a child and was living with her partner, ended up getting a 15-month jail sentence for misconduct. The judge revealed some shocking details about her mindset during the trial, saying she had a twisted view of her relationship with the inmate.

According to a forensic scientist, she thought she was in love with Weirich and even saw him as a protector. The judge mentioned that she felt powerful in her role, which led her to act in ways that were pretty delusional.

She believed she was safe and that nothing would happen to her. It turns out she was wrong. After the video went public, she tried to escape to Spain but was caught at Heathrow Airport.

The UK Prison Service made it clear that this kind of behavior is not typical among their staff. They emphasized that most officers are honest and hardworking, and they’re taking steps to catch those who break the rules.
