London: Princess Beatrice’s daughter Athena and Prince Harry’s daughter Lilibet share a special tribute to their great-grandmother. Both girls have names that honor Queen Elizabeth II.

Beatrice welcomed Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi on January 22 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She weighed just 4 pounds 5 ounces.

Athena’s middle name, Elizabeth, is a sweet nod to her great-grandmother. It’s also the same middle name as Beatrice’s first daughter, Sienna.

Similarly, Harry named his daughter Lilibet after the Queen. The name Lilibet was a childhood nickname for her, used by her family.

Lilibet’s middle name, Diana, honors her late grandmother. Harry and Meghan wanted to pay tribute to both women.

Queen Elizabeth was called Lilibet because she struggled to say her full name as a child. Her father, the Duke of York, used the name throughout his life.

Beatrice has often spoken about her bond with the Queen. She considers her grandmother and mother as role models.

However, reports suggest the Queen was not thrilled about Harry’s choice of name for Lilibet. A biography mentioned she was quite upset when she heard the news.

Harry and Meghan claimed they asked the Queen for permission to use the name. They said she was supportive of their choice.

Beatrice has now welcomed her second daughter, Athena, who was born a few weeks early. She is at home with her husband Edo and their children, Wolfie and Sienna.

Buckingham Palace announced the happy news, stating that the King and Queen are delighted about Athena’s arrival.
