A care worker in Port Glasgow has been dismissed for verbally abusing residents under her care, raising serious concerns about her conduct.
Port Glasgow: A care worker has been kicked out of her job for verbally abusing two residents. Elizabeth Johnston was working at Marchmont House Care Home when this all went down.
Between March 9 and March 10, 2024, she let loose on two residents. One of them told her they were cold, and she snapped back, saying something like, “you can sit there in the cold and be freezing.” Not cool, right?
She even threatened one resident, saying, “I’m going to f***ing batter you.” That’s just plain unacceptable. When another resident came out of his room, she barked, “Get to your f***ing bed.”
Things escalated when he pressed the nurse call buzzer, and she called him a “fat p****.” The report from the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) was pretty harsh, saying her comments were derogatory and unprofessional.
They emphasized that social service workers should never abuse or neglect those in their care. Johnston’s behavior was described as deliberate and cruel, which is just heartbreaking.
What’s worse is that she showed no remorse or regret for her actions. The report noted a pattern of this kind of behavior, and one resident even got agitated because of her comments.
Interestingly, Johnston had a solid seven-year track record in the care sector before this incident. Her dismissal took effect on December 27, and Glasgow Live has reached out to Marchmont Care Home for their take on the situation.
