The Priory Hotel and Restaurant in Caerleon will close for three weeks for renovations, but the bar area will remain open during this time
Caerleon: A popular spot, The Priory Hotel and Restaurant, is closing for three weeks starting today. They’re doing a full renovation on the building, which has been around since the 12th century.
Located right in the heart of Caerleon, it’s a favorite for locals looking for a nice place to eat. The restaurant is a big part of the community, sitting on High Street in this historic Roman village.
While it’s sad for the community to see the restaurant close, they’re excited about the changes. The closure starts on Monday, January 6, and will last for three weeks to allow for the renovations.
Good news, though! The bar area will stay open during the renovations. They’ll still serve a variety of beers, ciders, craft ales, cocktails, and a unique wine selection.
Plus, they’ll offer “small plates” in the bar, so if you’re in the mood for some tapas with your drink, you’re in luck!
A spokesperson shared on Facebook, “That’s a wrap on The Priory restaurant as we know it. On to the next chapter!”
They added, “This is a huge move for us. Dramatic change is never easy, but we have a clear vision for the future and will keep investing in this beautiful site we call home.”
Dating back to 1180, the building has had quite a history, starting as a Cistercian Monastery, then becoming a Nunnery, a private residence, and since 1996, it’s been home to The Priory Hotel and Restaurant.
They plan to reopen on January 27, so mark your calendars!
