Merseyside Police have issued a warning following multiple crashes due to icy roads
Merseyside: A series of crashes have been reported in the area due to icy conditions. The police are on high alert after a Land Rover was seen flipped on its side.
This incident is part of a larger problem, as the region has been under a weather warning for six days straight. The yellow warning for snow and ice has caused traffic chaos, school closures, and even rail cancellations.
The latest warning kicked in early Thursday morning and is expected to last until late morning. Police shared images of the flipped Land Rover, which crashed into railings and involved another car that was heavily damaged.
Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported. However, police are urging everyone to drive carefully and shared some tips for navigating these tricky conditions.
They recommend accelerating gently, using engine braking instead of slamming on the brakes, and keeping a safe distance from the car in front. Also, make sure to clear snow and ice off your vehicle before hitting the road.
In addition, Merseyrail has activated its cold weather plan, meaning the first trains ran without passengers to ensure safety. Delays are also being reported on major roads like the M62 and M6 due to the weather.
