Cleveland Police issue a warning as children play on a frozen lake in Hemlington during freezing temperatures
Hemlington: So, there’s been a bit of a scare in Hemlington. Kids were spotted having a blast on the frozen lake, but it’s not all fun and games. The police had to step in and warn everyone about the dangers.
It all kicked off when Cleveland Police saw reports of kids skating and sliding around on the ice. With temperatures dropping to -1C, the ice might look solid, but it can be super risky. The police took to social media to get the word out.
They reminded parents and kids that while it might seem like a good time, the ice can crack, and falling in could lead to serious trouble. We’re talking about freezing water that could cause hypothermia, which is no joke.
On Saturday, the weather was all over the place, with highs barely hitting 2C before plunging back down. Sunday isn’t looking much better, with temps hanging around 0C and then dropping again. So, it’s best to keep the kids away from those frozen ponds.
Stay safe out there, folks! It’s just not worth the risk for a bit of fun on the ice.
