A man has been arrested after a lengthy standoff with police in Coventry
Coventry: Police have arrested a man after a tense five-hour standoff in the city. It all kicked off on Villa Road in Radford early this morning.
Neighbors called 999 when they spotted a man on a roof. Firefighters rushed to the scene around 11:25 AM to help out.
They cordoned off Villa Road at the junction with Radford Road. For about five hours, police negotiated with the man, who is in his 30s.
A local woman described the whole situation as “nerve-wracking” to CoventryLive. It must have been quite a scene!
By around 5 PM, the man, whose name hasn’t been released, decided to come down voluntarily. He was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation, according to West Midlands Police.
In a statement, the police confirmed they were called to Villa Road after reports of a man on the roof. They had been engaging with him throughout the day.
