Police in Stoke-on-Trent caution drivers against leaving cars running unattended
Stoke-on-Trent: So, here’s the deal. Police are sounding the alarm after they found 12 cars left running in Meir this morning. The owners? Nowhere to be seen. It’s a bit of a worry, right?
With the chilly weather lately, thieves are taking advantage of folks who leave their cars unattended while they defrost. Inspector Rebecca Price is urging everyone to stay with their vehicles during this time.
She mentioned that between 6 am and 10 am, when people are getting ready for work, is prime time for these opportunistic thieves. It’s just not safe to leave your car running without keeping an eye on it.
Officers were out in Meir and Meir Hay today, giving advice to drivers who were caught off guard. They’re also looking into recent thefts in the area, so it’s definitely something to keep in mind.
Rebecca has some solid tips: always stay with your car while it’s defrosting, even if it means you might be a bit late. And hey, check the weather the night before! A windscreen protector or even a blanket can save you a lot of hassle.
Just remember, it’s better to take a few extra minutes in the morning than to risk losing your ride. Stay safe out there!
