The victim suffered some pretty serious head injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, he’s in a stable condition now. The two attackers managed to slip away before the police showed up.
Later on, a 50-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of wounding. He’s currently being questioned by detectives, trying to get to the bottom of what happened.
One local resident mentioned they noticed the police cordon late last night. They said, “Our friend was here, and when we let them out, we saw the cordon. It was pretty late, but we don’t know much.”
Another neighbor added that the police knocked on their door earlier, asking if they heard any shouting. They didn’t hear anything and were just as clueless about the situation.
The police are on it, conducting house-to-house inquiries, checking CCTV, and talking to witnesses in the area. Det Insp Mike Fletcher is urging anyone who was around Egerton Road last night to reach out if they saw or heard anything. They’re also asking delivery and taxi drivers to check their dashcams for anything unusual.
