A man with a significant cannabis stash was spared jail after police intervention and a suspended sentence.
Leek: So, there’s this guy named Thomas Davies who got into a bit of trouble. He had a stash of cannabis worth between £7,265 and £18,280 hidden in his shed. Crazy, right?
He was actually using cannabis himself and was holding onto it for someone else. When the police showed up, they knocked on his door for ages but got no response. They even had to bring in an enforcer!
Eventually, he popped his head out of a window and said he’d let them in. Once inside, they found the cannabis and also grabbed his phone, which had texts linking him to selling the stuff.
Davies admitted he was selling cannabis to support his own habit, which cost him about £280 a week. He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.
His lawyer mentioned that he was going through a rough patch back then, having split from his wife and living in a tent. But it seems like he’s trying to turn things around now, starting a roofing business and cutting back on his drug use.
In the end, he got a seven-month prison sentence, but it’s suspended for 18 months. He has to do some community service and attend rehab. The judge was pretty lenient, considering he didn’t have a history of similar offenses.
