Authorities in Co Derry are increasing patrols after a video of a man in yellow raised concerns among locals
Kilrea: So, there’s been a bit of a stir in Co Derry lately. Police are stepping up their patrols after a video popped up showing a guy dressed head to toe in yellow. It’s got folks talking.
The video was shot by a guy named Gerard McFerran. He spotted this unusual character on Vow Road around 12:30 AM on December 27. Gerard was curious and asked the man why he was all decked out in yellow, but the guy mostly just kept walking.
This mysterious man was also wearing a white mask and a black wig, which just added to the oddness of the situation. Some people on social media even claimed he was armed, but Gerard said that’s just speculation. He didn’t see any weapon.
Gerard shared that when he first saw the man, it felt really strange. He tried to chat with him, but the guy just mumbled something about not being able to take off the mask and that he had come from a friend’s place after taking a train.
Police are now doing proactive foot patrols in Kilrea and nearby areas like Rasharkin and Dunloy. Inspector Burns mentioned they take all reports seriously and want to reassure the community that they’re on top of things.
He encouraged anyone who sees something suspicious or is worried about someone to reach out to the police, whether it’s an emergency or not. It’s all about keeping everyone safe and feeling secure.
