A mix of adults and a teenager are facing various charges in Plymouth’s courts this week
Plymouth: This week, the courts had quite a lineup of cases. It’s always interesting to see what comes up, right? Among those in trouble were several adults and even a teenager.
So, there was this young teen caught driving on Albert Road. We can’t name him because of his age, but it’s a reminder that the law deals with all sorts of offenses. It’s not just adults who get into trouble.
One case that raised eyebrows was a guy who broke four windows at a pub. He only had to pay £100 in compensation, which seems a bit low, don’t you think? That probably won’t even cover the cost of fixing the windows!
Then there was another chap who stole a £22 hat. He got a suspended sentence and had to pay back the exact amount. Seems fair, but it’s wild how different the penalties can be.
Now, let’s talk about some driving offenses. Philip Wray James, 52, didn’t give info about a driver and got fined £180. Rhys Parsons, 21, had a rough time too, with drug charges and a community order for rehab.
And that unnamed 16-year-old? He drove without insurance and got fined £250. Ouch! David Chown, 33, was caught driving while disqualified and got a community order for unpaid work.
On the drink and drug driving front, Steven Edwards, 53, was caught with alcohol and drugs in his system. He got a hefty fine and a driving ban. Lee Iles, 38, faced similar charges and also got a community order.
Speeding was another issue, with Laura Faulkner, 36, and Gavin Jones, 46, both getting fined for going over the limit. It’s a reminder to keep an eye on those speed limits!
There were also cases of people failing to comply with court orders. Alfie Williams, 20, didn’t show up for his community service, and Michael White, 45, missed a drug rehab appointment.
Criminal damage was on the list too. Daryl King, 35, caused damage to a pub and had some cannabis on him. He had to pay compensation for the damage.
And let’s not forget about littering! Paul Wallace, 47, was fined for dropping cardboard boxes. It’s a small thing, but it adds up.
Assault cases were also present, with Shelley Cruickshank, 32, facing charges for common assault on multiple people. She’s now under a curfew.
Shoplifting made an appearance too, with Marcus Easterbrook, 42, stealing a hat and getting a suspended sentence. It’s a tough lesson for him.
Lastly, there were some harassment and theft cases. Jack Lamey, 26, was in trouble for stalking, while Mahmudul Hassan, 35, stole an electric bike worth £1,500.
It’s a mixed bag of cases, showing just how varied the court’s work can be. Always something happening in Plymouth!
