Parents express frustration as new play area design leaves kids unable to play
Trehafod: Parents are really upset about the recent changes to the play area at Barry Sidings Country Park. They say the new setup is just not working for the little ones. Kids are getting stuck and wandering around without anything to do.
One mom, Faye, shared her thoughts on Facebook, saying the new play frame is “not fit for purpose.” She’s not alone; many parents feel the same way. They’re scratching their heads, wondering who the new play area is even meant for.
Faye, who visits the park with her two kids, was really disappointed during her last trip. Her two-year-old couldn’t even use the small slide because he couldn’t climb up the wall. It’s a bummer when kids can’t enjoy the park like they used to.
She mentioned that younger kids usually love the park since they’re not in school, but now they’ve lost all their favorite things to play on. It’s tough for her active little boy, who just wants to climb and explore. Now, he needs help with everything.
Another mom, Anwen, also had a rough experience. Her son got stuck on the new climbing frame and was left “hysterical.” She used to take her kids there every week, and they loved it. Now, it’s just not the same.
She said the old play area was perfect for kids. They could play independently, and parents could relax. But now, it’s crowded and stressful. Anwen and other parents have noticed that kids are struggling to use the new equipment, and it’s just not safe.
Faye has even reached out to her local MP to voice her concerns. She pointed out that other parks have better equipment for kids of all ages. The council said they upgraded the play area to provide good quality spaces for kids, but parents are still worried.
They’re hoping the council listens to their feedback and makes some changes. After all, a park should be a fun and safe place for kids to play!
