Peterborough: Exciting plans are in the works to turn the grounds of Lynch Farm into a dog exercise area and campsite. This historic farmhouse, which is a Grade II listed building, sits right next to Ferry Meadows Country Park and has about seven acres of lovely green space.

For 50 years, a riding school operated there, but it closed down recently. Now, Nene Park Trust, which took over in August 2023, wants to breathe new life into the place.

Last year, a planning application was pulled back after locals raised concerns about noise. The new plans, submitted to Peterborough City Council, have been adjusted to address those worries. They’ve limited the number of dogs allowed in the paddock and changed the parking arrangements to keep things quieter for residents.

If everything goes smoothly, the dog exercise field will be a secure area on the east side, where folks can book it by the hour. Only two dogs and one car will be allowed in at a time, keeping it nice and calm.

As for camping, there’s a plan for up to 14 bell tents and a spot for 10 more tents where people can pitch their own. They’re also looking to widen the entrance to make it easier for cars to get in and out, plus a new footpath will connect to Wistow Way.

Matthew Bradbury, the CEO of Nene Park Trust, shared his excitement about the project. He mentioned that they’ve listened to community feedback and made changes to the original proposal, like limiting the number of dogs in the exercise field.

He’s really looking forward to making this beloved site a vibrant part of the community again. The long-term vision includes preserving the farmhouse’s heritage, hosting events, and offering educational programs, among other things.
