A new proposal aims to build 75 affordable homes in Sunderland, catering to families and first-time buyers in the area
Sunderland: Exciting news for the community! Plans are in the works to build 75 affordable homes in Sunderland, perfect for families and first-time buyers. This project is being pushed forward by Karbon Homes and Oaktree Living.
The proposed site is located north of Burdon Lane in Ryhope, covering about 3.54 hectares of land that currently has some old agricultural buildings. These buildings, which are in pretty rough shape, will be torn down to make way for the new homes.
The developers have shared that these new homes will be well-designed and energy-efficient, blending in nicely with the neighborhood. They’re planning a mix of one to four-bedroom options, including flats, bungalows, and semi-detached houses. There will be 25 affordable rent properties and 50 rent-to-buy options available.
This development is seen as a great opportunity to meet the housing needs of the area, especially for older folks looking to downsize and for first-time buyers. Plus, it aligns with Sunderland City Council’s design principles, which is a big plus.
