New proposals aim to convert old garages in Streetly into modern apartments
Streetly: So, there’s this plan to turn some old garages into apartments. These garages have been sitting empty since the 70s and have become a bit of a nuisance. They’re not just eyesores; they’ve attracted some anti-social behavior over the years.
The company behind the project, Starcrest Properties Ltd, wants to knock down the garages and build eight apartments instead. The layout includes four one-bedroom and four two-bedroom flats, plus a bike store and parking spaces. Each apartment will have a nice open-plan living area, a bathroom, and even a balcony or terrace.
Last time, Walsall Council turned down the proposal. They thought the design was too big and would block light for neighbors. They also had concerns about privacy and outdoor space for the future residents.
This time, though, the developers have come back with a detailed report addressing all those concerns. They’re arguing that their design fits better with the local vibe and have made some tweaks to ease privacy issues. They’re confident that this new plan meets all the necessary standards.
It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds. If they get the green light, it could really change the area for the better!
