A recall has been issued for vitamin D supplements due to risks of irregular heartbeat and anorexia symptoms
Portsmouth: The Food Standards Agency (FDA) has just announced a recall for two vitamin D supplements from TriOn Pharma. These products are supposed to help with bone and immune health, but there’s a catch.
They’re worried that the ‘Aactive D3 Drops’ and ‘Aactive D3 Solution’ might have too much vitamin D3 in them. This could lead to some nasty side effects like nausea, vomiting, and even irregular heartbeats.
Irregular heartbeat, or cardiac dysrhythmias, can be pretty serious. It can happen if your heart races over 100 beats per minute or slows down below 60. If you have health issues like high blood pressure, you might be at a higher risk.
The FDA’s alert says that high levels of vitamin D3 can cause hypercalcaemia, which is just a fancy term for high blood calcium levels. This can lead to symptoms like weakness, thirst, and weight loss.
TriOn Pharma is recalling these products just to be safe. If you’ve got one of these supplements, check the batch numbers. The 20ml drops are ‘LS23317’ and the 50ml solution is ‘LS23318’. Both have a best before date of November 2025.
You can return them for a full refund, no receipt needed. If you have questions, reach out to TriOn Pharma directly.
Interestingly, this recall comes on the heels of another one from Liberty, a luxury beauty brand. They’re worried about a candle that might burn unsafely. It’s a good reminder to always check your products!
