A tragic incident in Northumberland has resulted in a person’s death after being hit by a train near a level crossing
Northumberland: A person was hit by a train near a level crossing in Belford. It’s a sad situation, and emergency services were called out early Saturday morning.
They got the call around 6:30 AM and rushed to the scene at Cragmill Level Crossing. Unfortunately, the person was pronounced dead right there.
Police have said that there’s nothing suspicious about the death. They’re just preparing a report for the coroner now.
A spokesperson from British Transport Police mentioned that they responded quickly to the incident. They confirmed that the person was found but sadly didn’t make it.
After the incident, train services between Newcastle and Edinburgh were disrupted. It caused some delays, but trains were back on track by around 8:30 AM.
Network Rail also commented on the situation, explaining that they had to pause services to let emergency teams do their work. Thankfully, everything was cleared up by 10 AM.
