Pataskala: It’s a shocking story that’s left everyone in disbelief. An elderly woman, Rebecca Westergaard Rigney, was found dead on Christmas Day, and it gets worse—she was partially eaten by pigs.

Emergency services were called after her niece got worried and asked for a wellness check. When they arrived, they found Rebecca, 75, on her doorstep. It’s just heartbreaking.

Apparently, a pig had wandered into her home, and police are looking into whether it was responsible for her death. They even told a neighbor to quarantine her pigs after two more were found at her place.

The coroner said Rebecca died from severe injuries caused by the pigs. It’s been ruled accidental, but the whole thing has shaken up the usually quiet neighborhood.

One neighbor, David Mullings, couldn’t believe it. He said it was wild because he’s never seen pigs around. Another local, David Hanson, was also shocked to hear about the pigs possibly being involved in a death.

Police are still piecing together what happened. The chief mentioned that they don’t have all the details yet and are waiting for a full autopsy report, which could take weeks.

He called it a “horrible situation” and said they’ll keep investigating. It’s strange because Ohio doesn’t really have laws about farm animals attacking people, unlike with dogs.

It’s a tough case for the police since they usually deal with dog-related incidents. The chief noted that if it were a dog, they’d have answers much quicker. But with farm animals, it’s a whole different ball game.
