People have added 68,673 years to their records since the online service started last April.

HMRC and DWP remind everyone about a deadline: you have until April 5 to check your National Insurance and fill any gaps from April 6, 2006, onwards.

After April 6, rules change: people can only pay for the past six tax years, aligning with standard time limits.

Use the GOV.UK service or the HMRC app to check your pension forecast; it’s the quickest and easiest way.

Over 4.3 million people have checked their forecasts using the enhanced service since last April.

The service lets you see gaps in your record and shows how payments boost your pension. People can pay for multiple years at once.

Men born after April 6, 1951, and women born after April 6, 1953, can pay to boost their new State Pension.

Most working-age people, including those living abroad who can pay for UK residency years, can use this online, usually with no need to call HMRC or DWP.

The online service has some limits right now: it is unavailable to those getting a State Pension, self-employed people, and those abroad with gaps from working abroad.
