Jenn Hannon, a 31-year-old mum from Pembrokeshire, opens up about her breast cancer diagnosis and the challenges she faces.
Pembrokeshire: A young mum named Jenn Hannon is bravely sharing her story about battling breast cancer. She’s only 31 and has three kids, which makes her journey even more challenging.
When Jenn was diagnosed, she was shocked. She had been raising concerns for four years before finally getting the news. It’s been a tough road since her diagnosis in May, filled with fear and loneliness, even with the support of her husband Patrick and the amazing staff at Withybush Chemotherapy Day Unit.
Jenn, now 32, has received incredible care, saying the nurses have made a huge difference in her life. She’s gone through a lot, including 14 rounds of chemotherapy and a mastectomy to remove a tumor. Despite all this, she felt isolated and turned to social media for support, which has been overwhelming in a good way.
Her family has faced financial strain too, with her diagnosis and surgery costing around £12,500. The kids, Rupert, Percy, and Felicity, have been brave through it all, but it’s tough for Jenn and Patrick to see them go through such scary times.
Patrick is active in the Neyland community, coaching local kids’ sports teams, while Jenn used to run community events. Recently, the community rallied together to raise over £11,600 for Jenn through a charity match and other efforts, which left the family feeling incredibly grateful.
Jenn has plans for the future, wanting to start a charity to help young people with cancer in Pembrokeshire once she’s through this battle. For now, she’s focused on getting better so she can return to being the mum her kids need.
