A beloved Pembrokeshire landmark has been recreated in Lego, delighting fans of both architecture and the popular show Grand Designs
Tenby: An iconic building in Pembrokeshire, featured on Grand Designs, has been turned into a Lego model. It’s the former lifeboat house on Castle Hill, which was transformed into a home back in 2011.
This place is hard to miss with its striking red roof and unique location. It’s caught the attention of a guy known as the Lego Banksy, who’s become quite the sensation.
This 55-year-old from Cardiff loves crafting Lego models of famous landmarks, especially those in Wales. Alongside the Tenby lifeboat station, he’s also made models of Penarth Pier and Cardiff City’s football ground.
His creations include some of Cardiff Bay’s most recognizable spots. He shares his work on social media under the name minibrickarchitecture but prefers to keep a low profile.
In an interview with BBC Wales, he said, “Lego makes people smile. It appeals to everyone, from kids to grandparents.”
He’s also built a miniature of the Victorian pier at Penarth. He reminisced about how Lego used to be all about creativity, saying, “When I was a kid, it was about building whatever you wanted.”
These days, he notes that many Lego sets come with instructions, but he enjoys the challenge of recreating real-life structures. He’s embraced the nickname Lego Banksy, given to him by a close friend.
“I’m just me, nothing special,” he said. “But I hope my builds bring joy to others.”
