Derbyshire: So, there was this big mess in the Peak District. Gritters couldn’t get through because about 200 cars were double-parked on the road. It was a total nightmare!

The council said their crews were stuck trying to get past all those vehicles on Rushup Edge and Man Nick, which leads down to Edale. It’s a popular spot for hikers, especially near Mam Tor, where the views are just stunning.

They even posted a message online asking drivers to move their cars. They said, “If we can’t get through, neither can a bus or fire engine.” It’s pretty serious when emergency vehicles can’t get by.

People were really upset about the whole situation. One local mentioned how cars were parked all over the place, making it dangerous. Another suggested that the police should tow some of those cars away to teach the owners a lesson.

One hiker shared their frustration too, saying they went to climb Mam Tor early in the morning but turned back because the parking was so ridiculous. It’s just not safe when the roads are narrowed by snow and double parking.

On top of that, the weather has been freezing! The Met Office reported the coldest January temperatures in 15 years, with some areas dropping to -18.7C. That’s just brutal!

In England, temperatures fell to -11C in Cumbria and -5C at Heathrow. The UK Health Security Agency even issued amber alerts due to the cold, warning that it could lead to more health issues, especially for older folks.

But there’s a bit of hope! A meteorologist mentioned that while it’ll be chilly for a bit longer, temperatures should start to recover soon. Fingers crossed for some warmer days ahead!
