The new Channel 4 crime drama Patience showcases filming locations in York and Belgium
York: So, there’s this new crime drama called Patience on Channel 4, and folks are buzzing about where it was filmed. The show stars Ella Maisy Purvis as Patience Evans, an autistic woman working in police records. She’s got this routine life but really wants to dive into something more exciting.
Detective Bea Metcalf, played by Laura Fraser, spots Patience’s potential and brings her on board to help crack some serious cases in York. The show is all about giving a fresh take on neurodiversity, and they made sure to cast neurodiverse actors for the roles.
The first episode drops at 9 PM on January 8, with the next one following the day after. Everyone’s curious about the filming spots, especially locals and tourists.
Filming took place in both York and Belgium, starting in Antwerp. The cast mentioned that most of the action happened in Belgium, and Ella loved soaking up the local vibe. She raved about the food trucks on set, saying the breakfast spread was to die for.
Then, in April 2024, they moved to York, shooting in various iconic spots. The creators say the cases Patience helps solve are pretty wild and set in some unique locations around the city.
Ella, who plays Patience, described York as “magical.” She loved wandering through The Shambles, feeling like she was in a Victorian movie. But she also joked about her clumsiness on those cobblestone streets!
