Liverpool: A passenger recently described the long-stay car park at Liverpool John Lennon Airport as “lethal.” This comes after a week of snow and icy weather in the area.

The region has been under a yellow weather warning for several days, causing chaos for transport services. Merseyrail had to cancel many trains, and the airport faced flight delays and cancellations due to the weather.

A photo taken early on January 9 showed the car park covered in snow and ice. The traveler, who was heading to Lanzarote, expressed frustration, saying the car park hadn’t been gritted or cleared. They felt it was just waiting for an accident to happen.

In response, an airport spokesperson acknowledged the tough conditions. They mentioned that while passenger walkways have been cleared, the car park has faced challenges. They assured that they have the right equipment for snow and ice removal, despite some technical issues recently.

The spokesperson also noted that they have enough de-icing fluids on hand for both aircraft and surfaces. They emphasized that they’ve managed to stay operational during this difficult weather period, aside from a few brief interruptions.
