Residents in Great Barr voice concerns over a proposed children’s home amid fears of increased anti-social behaviour and noise issues
Great Barr: So, there’s this big fuss going on about a proposed children’s home. More than 50 neighbors are really not happy about it. They’re worried it’ll cause noise and maybe even more trouble in the area.
The house in question is on Poolehouse Road, and it’s meant to be a home for two kids who need some extra support. But folks are concerned about the noise and parking issues that might come with it. The local council is set to decide on this soon.
Interestingly, the planning officers think it should go ahead. They believe that with the right management, it won’t be a problem. Even the police didn’t raise any objections, which is a good sign, right?
But the neighbors are still worried. They’ve seen similar proposals get turned down before, only for those decisions to be overturned later. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster, really.
Last year, there were a few other plans for children’s homes in the area that got rejected due to parking issues. It seems like the council is trying to balance the needs of the kids with the concerns of the community.
So, the planning committee is meeting soon to make a final call on this. It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out!
