A petition with over 11,000 signatures calls for Max the Dog’s release from a pound in Lisburn, sparking widespread support and concern.
Lisburn: So, there’s this pup named Max who’s been in a bit of a pickle. Over 11,000 folks have signed a petition to get him out of the pound. Can you believe that?
Max is just a young dog, around five to seven months old. He was taken by the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council back in early December because they thought he might be a banned breed. They even considered putting him down!
But then, a bunch of dog lovers and local politicians stepped in. They argued that Max is too young to be properly assessed. The USPCA got involved too, saying he deserves a chance.
They want him to go to a foster family until he can be evaluated by someone independent. It’s been a tough wait, especially since everyone hoped he wouldn’t have to spend the holidays in the pound.
Rosie Cummings started the petition on December 18, and it’s been gaining traction ever since. People are really rallying behind Max, and they’re not backing down.
Even though the council insists Max is a banned breed, the USPCA says he can’t be assessed properly yet. The council’s last word was that they’re looking into it and will get an independent agency to check him out in the New Year.
They assured everyone that Max is safe and being cared for in a kennel. But they also mentioned that they can’t let him go to a foster home because of the law. It’s a real head-scratcher.
They understand how distressing this is for everyone involved. If anyone thinks they might own Max, they’re encouraged to reach out to the council.
So, if you want to help Max, you can support the petition. It’s great to see so many people coming together for this little guy!
