A recent incident in Milton Keynes has sparked outrage as police label asylum seekers loitering outside a school a cultural issue, raising community concerns.
Complaints rolled in about men loitering near the school, with some folks even claiming they were filming the scene. In response, the police suggested that these asylum seekers should follow “cultural expectations.” This has really fired people up on social media, with many demanding action regarding the migrants’ behavior.
Simon Clarke, a former Tory MP, chimed in, saying it’s a culture that needs to change. Susan Hall, a councillor, expressed her worries too, saying she understands why parents are concerned. She mentioned that if men were hanging around her kids’ school, she’d be alarmed as well.
Darren Grimes from GB News called the situation “outrageous,” criticizing the government’s open-door policies on migration. He pointed out that this quiet village, known for its history, is now facing issues because of these policies. Parents are anxious, and the community feels on edge.
Asylum seekers have been staying at a nearby hotel for about three years, which is just a small part of the thousands in temporary housing across the UK. The school even sent a letter to parents last month about the men hanging around during drop-off and pick-up times, assuring them they were taking it seriously.
The police have promised to work with the hotel housing the asylum seekers and increase patrols after receiving complaints about their “suspicious activity.” Sergeant Lorna Clarke mentioned that locals have been sharing their concerns on social media, and she’s been in touch with them and the school.
However, she also noted that there’s no evidence of any crimes happening and urged people not to take matters into their own hands. She asked the community to keep reporting any incidents to the police. The police are already connected with the hotel and plan to address appropriate behaviors and cultural expectations.
