Cardiff City manager Omer Riza suggests Joel Colwill may benefit from a loan move to a League One club after his success at Cheltenham Town
Cardiff: Omer Riza, the manager of Cardiff City, thinks Joel Colwill should stay on loan at Cheltenham Town or even move up to a League One club. Colwill has been doing great, scoring six goals and assisting three since joining Cheltenham.
There’s been some talk about whether to bring him back to Cardiff or let him continue developing at Cheltenham. Riza believes that moving him to a higher level would be best for his growth. He mentioned that with the current midfielders at Cardiff, Colwill might not get enough playing time if he returns.
Riza said, “Joel has been excellent. We’re always watching him. Bringing him back might not help his performance, so keeping him in League Two or moving him up to League One could be better.”
He also touched on Ryan Wintle, who’s on loan at Millwall. Riza noted that Wintle left Cardiff to get more game time, and bringing him back could lead to frustrations if he doesn’t play regularly.
As for Roko Simic, Riza plans to discuss his future soon. Simic has struggled in Belgium and hasn’t played much. Riza is looking forward to January to figure out the best path for all the loan players.
