Redcar: So, it looks like the old office of Jacob Young, the former MP, might be turned into a restaurant. Pretty interesting, right?

There’s a planning application in the works for Churchill House on Redcar High Street. The folks at ROAA Limited want to change the office space to allow food and drink sales. They officially stopped using the office last October.

The proposed restaurant would be open from 11am to 11pm on weekdays and 4pm to 10pm on Sundays and bank holidays. The local council still needs to give the green light, though.

Young, who used to work in chemical processing and was a local councillor, lost his seat to Anna Turley in last July’s election. He only served one term after winning in 2019.

Now, he’s working as a director for a consultancy firm that helps with big infrastructure projects. The office was actually up for sale back in 2020, but it was still listed as having him as a tenant.

Interestingly, the local Conservative association doesn’t have a physical office in Redcar anymore. But they’re keeping another office used by a different local MP, Sir Simon Clarke, in Guisborough.

It’ll be exciting to see if this restaurant plan goes through. It could really change the vibe of the area!
