Djanogly City Academy celebrates its sixth form’s outstanding Ofsted rating, highlighting its diverse student body and high teaching standards
Nottingham: Djanogly City Academy is buzzing with excitement after Ofsted gave its sixth form an “outstanding” rating. The inspectors were really impressed with the teaching quality.
The report came out on January 17, following an inspection in early December. While the overall school was rated “good,” the sixth form stood out as exceptional.
According to the report, the school sets high expectations for every student. They’re doing well across a broad and ambitious curriculum.
Each classroom is named after a higher education institution, which helps students think about their future. It’s all about building their aspirations and showing them what they can achieve.
With over 1,200 students aged 11 to 18, the academy operates from two locations. About 150 students are in the sixth form, which offers 20 A-Level subjects and opened in September 2022.
The Ofsted report highlighted how the sixth form creates a supportive environment for students who might struggle elsewhere. They get personalized pathways and expert teaching to help them succeed.
The school believes that “everybody graduates,” focusing on giving every student the chance to reach their potential, no matter their background.
Many students speak English as a second language, and inspectors noted the caring and inclusive atmosphere at the school.
Principal Andy Smith expressed pride in the staff and students, saying this recognition is a testament to their hard work and dedication. He emphasized the school’s wonderfully diverse community.
Mark Mallender, the CEO of Djanogly Learning Trust, also shared his pride in the students and staff, thrilled that their efforts have been acknowledged in the Ofsted report.
