Nottingham Forest expressed regret after fans faced delays in freezing weather due to turnstile issues during a recent match
Nottingham: So, Nottingham Forest had a bit of a mess on their hands recently. Fans were left shivering outside the stadium because the turnstiles were closed. It was freezing, and people were waiting to get in while the game was already underway.
One fan mentioned that thousands were stuck outside around 3:20 PM, which meant they missed a good chunk of the first half of the FA Cup match against Luton Town. That’s just rough, right?
Apparently, stewards told fans that the steps to the stand were unsafe. One supporter called it “terrible organization” for a club of their size. I mean, it’s not like they didn’t know the weather was going to be cold!
In their official statement, Forest said some fans couldn’t get to the Upper Bridgford stand because of safety concerns. They claimed most fans were inside the stadium within ten minutes of the 3 PM kick-off, but still, that’s a long wait in the cold.
The club explained that despite their efforts to grit the area, the icy conditions forced them to close some turnstiles for safety. They did apologize to the fans who were affected, emphasizing that safety is their top priority.
Fans took to social media to express their frustration. One person pointed out that there seemed to be no plan in place to handle the situation, which is pretty unacceptable. Another fan echoed that better planning was needed, especially since the freezing weather wasn’t exactly a surprise.
On the bright side, Nottingham Forest did win the match 2-0, with goals from Ryan Yates and Ramón Sosa. Now, they’re gearing up for a big Premier League clash against Liverpool soon!
