Norwich: A man’s body was pulled from the River Wensum, and it’s raising a lot of eyebrows. He was last seen carrying a large black bag, which makes this whole situation even more puzzling.

Emergency services got the call around 4:25 AM on Saturday. They rushed to the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge area after reports of someone going into the water. Police, fire crews, and ambulances all showed up to help.

Sadly, they found the man in his 40s and pulled him from the river. He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but didn’t make it. His family has been notified, but we still don’t know who he is.

Authorities are treating his death as unexplained and are looking for anyone who might have seen something that night. They really want to piece together how he ended up in the river.

Witnesses described him as an Asian man, slim, and about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, black trousers, and a unique black wide-brimmed hat. That black holdall he had is also a key detail.

Norfolk Police are asking anyone who was in the Riverside area early Saturday morning to come forward. If you have any dashcam or phone footage, they’d love to see it. You can reach out to them with the reference CAD 53 of January 11.

If you have any info, you can contact Norfolk Police through their website, call 101, or email andrew.collinson@norfolk.police.uk. You can also reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
