Several schools in North Wales are closed today due to a persistent cold snap and icy conditions
Flintshire: A bunch of schools in North Wales are closed today because of the chilly weather. The cold snap has been hanging around since the weekend, and there’s even a warning for ice that’s supposed to wrap up by noon.
Yesterday, the Met Office’s chief forecaster, Jason Kelly, mentioned that the cold weather is sticking around this week. They’ve issued several severe weather warnings for wintry conditions. Snow showers are expected to keep falling across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and into Northern Wales, plus northern England.
He also pointed out that where the water and snow freeze overnight, we could see some icy patches since temperatures are dropping below freezing. But hey, there will be some sunny spells for those not near the northern coasts, even if it still feels pretty chilly with that northerly breeze.
Because of all this wintery weather, a few schools in Flintshire have decided to close today. Here’s the list:
- Flint, Gwynedd Primary School
- Flint, St Marys Catholic Primary School
- Flint, Cornist Park School
- Ysgol Pen Coch
- Holywell, Ysgol Gwenffrwd
- Nannerch V.C. Primary School
- Trelawnyd, Voluntary Aided Church in Wales Primary School
As of 8:40 AM today, no other schools have been reported closed by local authorities in North Wales.
