Leek: Motorists are really feeling the pinch with delays on a major road. Four-way traffic lights have popped up, causing long queues on Ladderedge.

But that’s not all. There are more roadworks to dodge in North Staffordshire. Newcastle Road in Leek has been under construction since Monday and is expected to last until January 29.

This is actually the second round of roadworks on the A53 this month. Cadent, the gas company, just wrapped up work on Leek Road through Endon, which had three-way signals causing a week of hold-ups.

So, if you’re out and about, keep an eye out for temporary lights. There are repairs on Leek New Road in Baddeley Green, and gas works on Hanley Road in Sneyd Green will continue until January 28.

Plus, there’s a damaged traffic signal on CHell Street in Hanley that should be fixed by 3 PM today. In Leek, Stockwell Street has temporary lights until tomorrow, and Ashbourne Road will have them until January 28.

Don’t forget about Cheadle Road in Werrington, which will have lights until January 31, and electricity works on Anchor Road in Adderley Green until January 23. Emergency gas works are also happening on Lower Ash Road in Kidsgrove until January 28.

Lastly, there are two-way lights on Congleton Road in Biddulph near Woodhouse Lane until January 24. So, if you can, try to plan your routes to avoid these delays!
