A North Shields man faces a five-year ban from owning pets after neglecting animals in his filthy home
The RSPCA got involved after Northumbria Police raised concerns about the animals’ living conditions. When an inspector checked out the place, it was a total mess. There was a strong smell of waste, and the floors were covered in it.
The inspector had to push through piles of rubbish just to get inside. It was so bad that she noted the kitchen was just as dirty, with trash everywhere. Poor animals were living in these awful conditions, including a Shar Pei dog and her puppies, who were clearly suffering from health issues.
Percy admitted he hadn’t taken them to the vet in ages. The inspector found more birds crammed into a dark cupboard without food. After the animals were taken away, they received the care they desperately needed.
In court, Percy pleaded guilty to multiple animal welfare offenses. He got a community order and a fine, but the real kicker is that he can’t own any pets for five years. It’s a tough lesson, but hopefully, it’ll make him think twice about how to treat animals in the future.
