A new partnership in North East Lincolnshire aims to tackle school attendance issues through a major conference and collaborative efforts
Leaders from various multi-academy trusts and the local council are coming together to address this issue. Attendance has been a real challenge since the pandemic, and they want to make a difference.
The conference is set for February 13 at the University Centre Grimsby. Baroness Anne Longfield, a former Children’s Commissioner, will be the keynote speaker. She’ll talk about why it’s so important for kids to be in school.
There will also be workshops to share best practices among the different academy trusts. This group was formed last year to encourage local education leaders to work together for the benefit of all students in the area.
Several local multi-academy trusts, along with Franklin Sixth Form College and Grimsby Institute, are part of this collaboration. Ann-Marie Matson, the Director of Children’s Services, emphasized how regular school attendance helps kids lead healthier, more successful lives.
She’s excited about the conference and grateful to Grimsby Institute for hosting it. It’s a chance to focus on a pressing issue that affects children and families in the community.
The event will feature eight workshops covering topics like children’s resilience and data analysis. It’s a great opportunity for schools to share what’s working and learn from each other. Just a heads up, spots are limited, so it’s first-come, first-served!
