As the New Year kicks off, several offenders in the North East face prison time for their crimes
Newcastle: So, it looks like some folks in the North East are starting the New Year behind bars. While many of us are busy with resolutions, these offenders are facing the consequences of their actions.
During the festive season, courts were still in session, dealing with a range of criminals. From violent attackers to cannabis growers, Newcastle Crown Court had its hands full. Let’s dive into some of the recent cases.
First up is Mark Wyatt. This guy assaulted his cousin after a night out, leaving him with a serious brain injury. A single punch turned a fun evening into a nightmare. Wyatt got a suspended sentence but has to do some community service and stay sober.
Then there’s Mark James, a convicted rapist who tried to rob his partner after drinking way too much. He got aggressive when she wouldn’t give him more cash for booze. He’s now serving three-and-a-half years for attempted robbery.
Next, we have Klodian Sulovari and Eldison Kalemi, who were caught running a massive cannabis farm in a former restaurant. They tried to escape when the police showed up but ended up getting arrested. They both pleaded guilty and are now facing prison time.
Gordon Glass is another one to mention. He was controlling and abusive towards his partner, making her live in fear. He’s been sentenced to two years in jail for his behavior.
And let’s not forget Paul Barton, who was a real piece of work. He subjected his girlfriend to horrific violence and threats. He’s now serving seven-and-a-half years for his actions.
Lastly, there’s Shuaib Muhammad, a stalker who terrorized a woman after being released from prison. His creepy behavior landed him a five-year sentence, plus an extended license period.
