Coventry: Today marks a bittersweet day for Nicola Payne’s family as they celebrate what would have been her 52nd birthday. For over three decades, they’ve been searching for her since she vanished in 1991.

It’s been tough for them, not being able to say goodbye or lay her to rest. On this special day, they’ve decided to close their social media page that was dedicated to finding her. But don’t worry, they’re still urging anyone with information to reach out to the police.

Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards, who’s been leading the investigation, believes someone in Coventry knows what happened to the 18-year-old. The family’s last post on their Facebook page expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received over the years.

They shared how much they’ve struggled since Nicola’s mum, Maz, passed away last year, but they find comfort in knowing they’re reunited now. They’ve set a date for the page closure, which will be on Nicola’s birthday next year, January 9, 2025.

In their heartfelt message, they expressed hope that one day they’ll find Nicola’s remains and finally give her a proper resting place. They thanked everyone for keeping her memory alive.

Recently, a new docu-series called ‘The Never Ending Murder’ sparked fresh hope for the family. Nicola’s brother, Nigel, mentioned that it raised many new questions that need answers.

While there’s still no solid lead, the former investigator, Martin Sleven, believes she might be buried in Coombe Country Park. The police are waiting for more information before they can search the area.

Detective Edwards is still hopeful that someone out there has information that could help solve this case. If you know anything about Nicola’s disappearance, please contact West Midlands Police at 101.
