A Newcastle dealer sold crack cocaine to an undercover officer and has been sentenced to over two years in prison for his actions
Newcastle: A dealer was caught selling crack cocaine to an undercover cop in the city. Anthony Hopper, who was homeless, was trying to fund his own addiction.
Last July, he sold drugs to the officer multiple times. On July 15, the officer met him at Exhibition Park, where Hopper was dealing to a crowd.
Just a couple of days later, on Fenkle Street, the officer bought £20 worth of crack from him. Hopper continued to sell drugs until he was caught.
At 29, Hopper had a long list of previous convictions. He pleaded guilty to supplying crack cocaine and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
The judge noted that Hopper was well-established in the drug trade. His lawyer mentioned that he was selling drugs to support his own addiction while living on the streets.
Hopper has faced tough times, dealing with mental health issues and a difficult past. He was arrested at a homeless charity, highlighting the struggles he faced.
