Stockport: Exciting news! They’re kicking off a new project to build over 400 homes right in the heart of Stockport. This new spot, called Stopford Park, is set to have 442 apartments on Greek Street and Wellington Road.

Construction is starting this month on the first building, Bosden, which will have 62 one and two-bedroom homes. It’s the first of three buildings planned for the area.

Next up, they’ll be working on the Torkington building, adding 122 more apartments. And to top it off, there’s a 16-storey building called Lyme that will bring in another 258 apartments.

They expect to wrap everything up by the end of 2027, with the first homes available for reservation this spring. The whole project is on a three-acre site and is being managed by Cityheart, the same team behind Stockport Interchange.

Oh, and they’re also converting the old Metropolitan Girls’ School into a flexible workspace for local businesses. Sounds like a great way to support the community!

Cityheart has teamed up with Oak Construction Projects, a local contractor, to get the first phase going. Richard Stanton from Oak Construction is thrilled to be part of this project, saying it’s great to work with local subcontractors to deliver these much-needed homes.

Greg Ball, the development director at Cityheart, shared his excitement too. He mentioned that they’ve been prepping the site since last year and can’t wait to see the first homes available for sale in 2025. Stockport is really transforming, and it’s an exciting time for the community!
