Irish workers can now claim a €1000 grant while earning part-time wages, boosting their income.
Dublin: A new grant is here for Irish workers. You can claim €1000 while working part-time. This is part of the Part-Time Job Incentive (PTJI) Scheme.
This scheme helps boost your income. If you’re on Jobseeker’s Allowance, you can earn more. You can get over €250 added to your part-time wages.
To qualify, you need to meet a couple of conditions. First, you must have been on long-term Jobseeker’s Allowance for at least 312 days. Days on Jobseeker’s Benefit or the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment count too.
You also need to be getting a weekly payment of at least €154.60 if you’re single. If you have a qualified adult, it’s €252.10. You must stay on the scheme for at least two months.
You can work multiple part-time jobs, but total hours must be under 24 per week. Self-employed people can’t apply for this scheme.
You can stay on the PTJI scheme for one year, with a chance to extend. While on it, keep looking for full-time work.
If you lose a full-time job, you can return to the PTJI scheme if you meet the conditions. Your allowance will continue for the time left on your original claim.
How much will you get? Instead of your usual payment, you’ll receive €154.60 weekly if single, or €252.10 if you have a qualified adult. This allowance is not taxable, but your wages will be.
To apply, contact your Intreo Centre or local Social Welfare Branch Office after getting a part-time job. Fill out the PTJI1 application form and provide your job details.
Your employer will need to complete form PTJI2 every four weeks to confirm your hours. You must also sign a declaration stating you worked less than 24 hours weekly. If you delay returning this form, your payment will be paused.
