Sandra Forbes takes the helm at St John’s Foundation, aiming to enhance community support and educational initiatives in Bath
Bath: St John’s Foundation has just named its new chair of trustees, and it’s Sandra Forbes. She’s a banking and corporate lawyer with a solid background in leadership roles.
As the charity wraps up its 850th year, they’re excited about the fresh ideas Sandra will bring. Her experience is expected to help steer the charity through its ongoing strategy, which focuses on supporting families and narrowing the academic gap for kids.
The charity’s ‘Best Start in Life’ initiative is all about working with local schools and early years settings. They want to make sure every child under 12 has a chance to grow up healthy and well-educated.
A spokesperson for St John’s Foundation shared that Sandra has an impressive resume, including 18 years at Burges Salmon LLP. She’s also held senior roles at National Express Group and Rotork plc. Living in Bath for over 25 years, she really understands the local challenges and inequalities.
Sandra expressed her excitement about becoming chair, saying she feels privileged to lead a charity with such a rich history. She’s eager to build on past successes and expand support for all beneficiaries in the region.
The charity also helps older adults with accommodation and outreach services, working with groups like Age UK to create an age-friendly community. They have a Crisis Programme to support families in tough situations.
Catharine Brown, the interim CEO, is thrilled to welcome Sandra. She believes Sandra’s experience and forward-thinking approach will be crucial as they continue their important work in the community.
