Aberdeenshire braces for snow this Friday as Storm Éowyn hits, with warnings for heavy snowfall and strong winds across the region
The Met Office has put out a yellow warning for snow starting at 3 AM and lasting until noon. While Aberdeen City might dodge the worst of it, the surrounding areas could see quite a bit of snow, especially in the hills.
Along with the snow, there’s also a yellow warning for high winds across Scotland. So, it’s going to be a wild couple of days. The mix of strong winds and heavy snow could create blizzard-like conditions, especially in higher spots.
If you’re planning to travel, it’s a good idea to allow extra time. Roads, trains, and buses might face delays, so keep that in mind.

The Met Office warns that rain will start moving northeast on Friday morning, but it’ll likely turn to snow in the hills before easing up. In northern England and southern Scotland, any snow accumulation will be brief, mainly on the hills.
However, north of the Central Belt, snow could stick around longer, with 15-25 cm possible in higher areas. The strong winds could lead to temporary blizzard conditions, especially in elevated regions.
Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to keep an eye on the situation, plan for extra travel time, and be cautious on untreated surfaces.
