Stoke-on-Trent: Neighbours have finally got their grit bin after a lot of back and forth. They were really struggling with the icy paths on Axbridge Walk, especially the elderly and disabled folks. It was tough to get around when the snow hit, and they felt it was unfair.

Thanks to their persistence and some media attention, the grit bin was put in place just in time for the last snowfall. Julie Swinnerton, a local resident, shared how hard it was for her to get out. She mentioned that the slope made it even scarier, and she avoided driving when the weather was bad.

The city council stepped up and installed the grit bin, which is a relief for everyone. Deputy council leader Amjid Wazir acknowledged the residents’ worries but explained that they can’t cover every road and pavement due to time and budget constraints. They focus on main roads and critical areas like hospitals and emergency services.

It’s great to see the community come together and make a change that benefits everyone!
