Residents in Normanby are reeling after a man was attacked and spotted injured in the street, likening the scene to a crime drama.
Normanby: Residents woke up to a scene that felt straight out of a crime show. A man in his 30s was attacked, leaving everyone in shock.
People gathered outside their homes, watching as investigators in white suits worked behind a cordon on Windsor Road. Police and paramedics were on the scene after the man suffered injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
Cleveland Police reported the attack happened around 7:15 AM on January 4. The injured man was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment.
Neighbors mentioned that police were going door-to-door, collecting CCTV footage from homes. One witness described it as a “crime drama,” noting the blood on the pavement and the presence of an ambulance.
Another resident couldn’t access his garage because of the police cordon, saying it was getting worse in the area. He was frustrated but understood the need for safety.
Some folks only realized something was wrong when they heard sirens around 7:30 AM. Others saw the man stumbling in the street, which was a huge shock for everyone.
While many residents speculated it was a stabbing, the police hadn’t confirmed that yet. Photos from the scene showed evidence markers, and officers were busy taking pictures of the area.
Cleveland Police are now asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage to come forward. They want to piece together what happened that morning.
Paramedics confirmed they were called to a private address in Middlesbrough and had support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service. One patient was taken to the hospital.
If you saw anything or have any footage, you can contact Redcar and Cleveland CID. They’re really hoping to get more information to help with the investigation.
