A jury has been discharged in the murder trial of a festival worker who died in Edinburgh after an alleged attack in Swansea
Edinburgh: So, there’s been a big development in the murder trial of Andrew Main, a festival worker who tragically died after an attack. The jury has been discharged, which is quite a turn of events.
Andrew passed away in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh after the incident in Swansea back in July. The two men, Joseph Dix and Macauley Ruddock, are accused of continuing to hit him while he was unconscious on the ground. They both say they didn’t do it.
During the trial, the prosecution laid out their case, saying that both men were at the same hotel as Andrew on the night it happened. They had all been out at different pubs before things got heated outside the Travelodge where they were staying.
Apparently, a fight broke out because Dix and Ruddock didn’t like Andrew and his friend talking to a woman they had been chatting with earlier. It escalated quickly, and Andrew ended up being chased away.
According to the prosecution, Dix hit Andrew from behind, knocking him out, and then both men kept hitting him while he was down. Sadly, Andrew never woke up and died about a month later.
His sister, Nikki, shared a heartfelt tribute, saying he was loved by many and had a huge heart. She mentioned how much he meant to his family and how deeply he will be missed.
Both Dix and Ruddock were initially charged with causing serious harm but were later charged with murder after Andrew’s death. They’re currently on trial at Swansea Crown Court, and it looks like a new jury will be picked soon.
