Swansea: A mum is sounding the alarm after her little boy nearly lost his life due to eye drops. Katelyn Clement’s son, Milo, had a scary reaction after licking a drop of Optrex that rolled down his cheek.

Katelyn was just trying to help when she gave Milo his second dose. But when that tiny droplet dripped down, he licked it without thinking. Moments later, he started coughing uncontrollably and struggled to breathe.

She rushed him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed he had a severe allergic reaction. Katelyn was terrified as she watched her son go in and out of consciousness. It was a nightmare for any parent.

After digging into the ingredients, she was shocked to find chloramphenicol in the eye drops. This antibiotic can be dangerous, especially for kids. The NHS warns that if a child swallows it, they need emergency help.

Katelyn believes Optrex should rethink their ingredients to avoid more dangerous situations. While the company expressed regret over the incident, they emphasized the importance of following usage instructions.

Katelyn shared that Milo had been prescribed Optrex for what seemed like conjunctivitis. The first dose went fine, but the second one turned into a crisis. She never expected a simple eye drop could lead to such a scary situation.

She’s now urging other parents to be cautious with these products. If a drop can cause such a reaction in her son, it could be even worse for a newborn. Katelyn wants to make sure no other child has to go through what Milo did.
